Invite teammates to a business

To share a business with a teammate, invite them by email. Open Settings > Business. In Teammates, type their email, pick a role, and click Invite. Hero Marketer sends them an email with a link. The link works for 7 days and one time only. Only the business owner can invite people.

A teammate does not pay. The owner's credits pay for the AI work of every teammate in the business. There is no fee for each teammate and no limit on the number of teammates.

The three roles

Each business has one Owner. The owner is the person who made the business. Each teammate is an Editor or a Viewer.

  • Owner. Invites and removes teammates, and changes their roles. Deletes the business. Pays for all the work in the business. An owner can also do everything that an editor can do.
  • Editor. Runs Hero AI, creates campaigns and ad images, and writes ad copy. Approves and undoes changes. Pauses and starts campaigns. Edits products, reports and dashboards, and adds custom alerts on the accounts of the business. Connects, reconnects, disconnects and moves the ad accounts of the business, with the editor's own sign-in. Changes the name, logo and reporting currency of the business, and its alert and automation settings.
  • Viewer. Reads the reports, dashboards, campaigns and alerts of the business, and downloads report PDFs. A viewer cannot run Hero AI, create campaigns or images, or change anything. Hero AI, Create campaign, Create images, Add product, Add ad account and the alert and automation settings show "You can view this business".

Accept an invite

  1. Open the invite email. Its subject is "[name] invited you to [business] on Hero Marketer".
  2. Click Accept invite.
  3. Sign in with the email that got the invite. You can use Continue with Google or an email code. If you have no account, this step makes one. It is free.
  4. Click Join business.

The business then shows in the business menu at the top of the sidebar. You do not need an ad account of your own. If the page shows "This invite is for someone else", you are signed in with a different email. Sign out, sign in with the invited email, and open the link again. If the page shows "This invite no longer works", the link expired or was used. Ask the owner for a new invite.

If the invite email does not arrive

If Hero Marketer cannot send the email, the owner sees "We couldn't send the email. Copy the link and send it yourself." Click the copy button and send the link to your teammate. To send a new invite to the same email, invite them again. The new invite replaces the old one. To cancel an invite, click Cancel invite.

Change a role or remove a teammate

The owner changes a role in the list in Teammates. Pick Editor or Viewer next to the teammate. To remove a teammate, click Remove, then confirm. A teammate who wants to go clicks Leave business. The owner cannot leave the business. The owner can delete it.

Removal ends access immediately. It also deletes the Hero AI chats, AI summaries and ad images of that person in the business. You cannot undo this. The reports, dashboards and products of the business stay. If that person connected an ad account in the business, the account loses that sign-in. An owner or an editor must reconnect the account.

What teammates share and what stays private

Teammates share the ad accounts, products, reports and dashboards of the business. They see the same alerts in the bell and on the Alerts page. Each Hero AI chat, AI summary and Create images library stays with the person who made it.

The change history on the Automations page shows every change on the accounts of the business. It shows the email of the teammate who made a change. An owner or an editor can undo any change in the history.

Who pays in a shared business

The owner's credits pay for all paid work in the business. This includes Hero AI, AI summaries and briefs, Create images, ad copy, and the daily checks. The credit balance of a teammate does not limit the teammate in the business. If the owner's credits run out, a teammate sees "The business owner's credits have run out. Ask them to add credits, then try again." Only the owner can add credits for the business.

Businesses that you join do not count toward your limit of 10 businesses. Settings > Connections shows the businesses that you own and the businesses where you are an editor.

Alert emails for teammates

Each business has its own alert and automation settings. The owner and the editors change them. Each alert email also goes to every editor. A viewer gets no alert emails. To stop alert emails for one business, click the unsubscribe link in the email. To start them again, turn on Email me this business's alerts in Teammates. Slack alerts go only to the Slack channel of the owner, and only the owner connects Slack.

What teammates cannot do

  • There is no transfer of ownership. The owner stays the owner.
  • An editor moves an ad account only to another business of the same owner. Only the owner moves an account to a new business, or moves the last account of a business, because that deletes the business.
  • There is no bill for each teammate, and a teammate cannot pay for the owner.
  • There is no client-only view. To give a client read-only access, invite the client as a Viewer.
  • There is no view across businesses.
