Switch between accounts

To switch between connected Google Ads accounts, click the account switcher at the top of the sidebar and pick the account you want. The switch is instant. Most of Hero Marketer is scoped to one Google Ads account at a time, so when you switch, what you see across the app changes. Your credit balance stays the same.

This works once you have connected more than one Google Ads account. If the account you want is not in the switcher, it is not connected yet. See Add another Google Ads account.

Switch from the sidebar​

The account switcher sits at the top of the sidebar. Click it to see the Google Ads accounts of the active business, under the heading Google Ads. Each account shows its name and its 10 digit ID. Click an account to make it active. Hero Marketer updates the active account, refreshes the dashboard against that account's data, and re routes any in flight queries to it.

Switch to another business​

When you have more than one business, the account switcher shows a Business row at the top. The row shows the name of the active business. To switch to another business:

  1. Click the account switcher.
  2. Point to the Business row.
  3. Click the business. Its first account becomes active.

If the business has no account, Hero Marketer opens Add account for that business. When you have only one business, the switcher does not show the Business row. See Businesses, accounts and products.

Switch from the Connections page​

You can also switch from Settings > Connections. To open Settings, click your profile picture at the bottom of the sidebar, then click Settings. Each account card has a Make active button when it is not the current account. When you click it, the switch works the same as it does from the sidebar. The active account's card shows a small "Active" badge, so it is clear which Google Ads account you are working in. This is handy when you are already on the Connections page and do not want to go back to the sidebar.

Switch with the keyboard​

The account switcher works from the keyboard. Press Tab to go to the switcher. Press Enter to open it. Use the arrow keys to move through the list. Press Enter to select an account. The switcher has no keyboard shortcut and no search box.

What changes when you switch accounts​

Most of Hero Marketer is scoped to the active Google Ads account, so a switch changes:

  • Dashboard. Shows campaigns and metrics for the active account only.
  • Reporting filters. The dashboard and the campaigns list remember date range, comparison, campaign type, status, and selected campaign names per Google Ads account.
  • Campaign wizard. Builds campaigns into the active account. An in progress wizard draft stays with the account where you started it. If you switch accounts mid flow, Hero Marketer keeps the draft with its account. When you switch back, the wizard opens the draft at the same step. Keywords and ad copy do not mix across accounts.
  • Hero AI chats. Each Google Ads account keeps its own list of saved chats, up to 10 per account. When you switch, Hero Marketer reveals that account's chats. Chats on the previous account stay saved on that account, just out of view.
  • Products. The product picker shows the products of the active account's business. A switch to an account in the same business keeps the same products. A switch to an account in another business shows the products of that business.
  • Account settings. Time zone and currency reflect the active account's Google Ads settings.

What stays the same when you switch accounts​

Some things apply to every account that you connect and do not change when you switch Google Ads accounts:

  • Your credit balance. One balance covers every account. Daily checks cost 0.25 credits a day for each account.
  • Your alert and automation settings. They apply to every account that you connect.

Teammates who use the same Google Ads account​

Hero Marketer has no team seats. Each teammate signs in with their own Google account. A teammate who connects the same Google Ads account sees its saved reports and named dashboards. Only the author can change a report or a dashboard. Hero AI chats, alert settings, and credits stay with each person.

You cannot switch while Hero AI generates​

While Hero AI generates a response, the account switcher is locked. If you switch mid response, the reply can orphan against the wrong account's data. Wait for the response to finish, or stop it from the chat input, then switch accounts.

Switch accounts versus add one​

A switch and an add are different actions, and which you need depends on whether the Google Ads account is already connected:

  • Switch when the account is already connected. The switcher shows it.
  • Add when the account is not connected yet. The switcher will not show it. See Add another Google Ads account.

See all your accounts at once​

Hero Marketer shows one Google Ads account at a time. There is no dashboard that combines every connected account into one view. To compare accounts today, switch between them, or ask Hero AI the same question against each account and compare the answers. (Hero AI answers about the active account only, so switch the account before each question.)

If an account is missing or will not switch​

  • An account is not in the switcher list. The switcher shows only the accounts of the active business. Pick the other business in the Business row first.
  • An account disappeared from the switcher. Someone disconnected the account. To add it again, click Add account in the account switcher. This needs credits. See Disconnect Google Ads for the reconnect steps.
  • An account shows the Google Ads connection broken alert. The account stays in the switcher. To fix the connection, open Settings > Connections. On the account's card, click Reconnect.
  • A switch does nothing or loops back to the original account. Refresh the page. If that does not fix it, your session may have expired. See Session keeps expiring.
