Create a Meta campaign
The campaign wizard can build a Meta campaign. The campaign shows single image ads on Facebook and Instagram that send people to your website. Meta finds the people for you in the country that you pick, with Advantage+ audience.
Before you start
- Reconnect Meta Ads once. To run ads from your Facebook Page, Hero Marketer needs the Page permissions. A connection made before Hero Marketer could create campaigns does not have them. Open Settings > Connections and click Reconnect on the account. When Meta asks, give access to your Page.
- Have a Facebook Page. Each ad runs from a Facebook Page that your ad account can use. If there is none, the step shows This ad account has no Facebook Page it can run ads from. Add one in Meta Business Settings.
- For Leads, have a Meta pixel. The pixel must be on your site and send the Lead event when a person signs up.
- Have your product context. Hero Marketer writes the ads from your product context. If the product has none, the wizard asks for your website first.
Pick Meta
Open Create campaign. When your business has two or more platforms, a card shows for each platform above the first step. Click Meta Ads. Each platform keeps its own draft.
When Meta is the only platform of your business, the wizard opens on Meta and shows no cards.
Traffic or Leads
The first setting under the sentence is the campaign type:
- Traffic gets the most visits to your landing page. Meta counts a visit when the page loads after a click.
- Leads gets the most sign-ups that your Meta pixel counts with its Lead event.
Complete the sentence
The Choose what to target step is one sentence: "Show my ad for product to people in country from the Page Page and send them to landing page." For Leads, the sentence also has "counting leads with pixel".
- When the ad account can use one Page, Hero Marketer picks it. Otherwise, pick the Page.
- For Leads, Hero Marketer picks the pixel that sent an event most recently. You can pick another.
- If the pixel has never sent an event, the step shows This pixel hasn't sent an event yet, so it can't count leads. Check it in Events Manager. You can still continue.
- If the ad account has no pixel, the step shows Leads need a Meta pixel on your site, and this ad account has none. Add one in Events Manager, or pick Traffic.
Write the ads
Click Write my ads. Hero Marketer writes 4 ads. Each ad has:
- a Primary text of up to 125 characters, which shows above the image;
- a Headline of up to 40 characters, which shows below the image;
- a Description of up to 30 characters, which shows under the headline on Facebook. Instagram does not show it. The description is optional.
Meta cuts longer lines short, so Hero Marketer keeps each line to these lengths. Hero Marketer also picks one button for all the ads from your product's offers, for example Sign up for a free plan or a trial, or Book now for a demo. Writing the ads uses credits, the same as other ad copy.
Check your ads
The Check your ad step has these parts:
- The budget bar. The monthly budget starts at about 50 US dollars a day in your account's currency, for example $1,520 a month in USD. Meta gives no budget suggestion for a new campaign, so this is a test budget. In a currency other than USD, AUD, CAD, NZD, GBP or EUR, the budget bar starts empty.
- The ads. A list on the left shows the 4 ads. Click an ad to open it.
- The preview. It shows the open ad as a post. Click Facebook or Instagram to see each place. Click the arrows button to see the next ad.
- The open ad's lines. Change the primary text, the headline and the description.
- The campaign card. It shows who sees the ads, what the campaign gets you, the Page, the landing page and the button.
- Images for the open ad. Pick the image of the open ad from your product's images, or make or upload new ones here. A new image goes to the open ad.
An ad takes a landscape, square or portrait image. Portrait shows best in the Facebook and Instagram feeds.
Launch
Click Launch at amount a month. The launch waits until each ad has an image and its lines are within their limits.
Hero Marketer adds the images to your ad account's image library. Then it creates the campaign, which holds the daily budget at the lowest cost, one ad set, and one ad for each of your ads. The campaign starts last. If a step fails, Hero Marketer deletes the campaign, so nothing spends.
The ads run on Facebook and on Instagram when your Page has an Instagram account that Hero Marketer can read. Otherwise they run on Facebook only. Meta reviews each ad before it shows.
The automatic name is Traffic | product | country code, or Leads | product | country code.
