Attach screenshots and PDFs
You can attach images and PDFs to a Hero AI message and ask about them: a screenshot of a Google Ads or analytics report, a competitor's ad, a campaign brief, or a board deck. Hero AI reads the file and answers from what it shows, alongside your live account data.
How to attach a file to Hero AI
There are three ways to attach a file to a Hero AI message:
- Click the + button at the bottom left of the message box, then choose files. The + in the tab strip at the top of the page starts a new chat instead.
- Paste a screenshot into the message box.
- Drag files from your computer and drop them onto the chat.
Attached files appear as chips above the text you type. To remove a file before you send, click the × on its chip. Files upload when you send the message. You can send files with no text, or add a question to tell Hero AI what to look for.
Which files Hero AI can read
Hero AI reads these file types:
- Images: PNG, JPEG, and WebP.
- PDFs, including scanned pages and slides saved as a PDF.
Each message takes up to 4 files, with a total of 10 MB.
Hero AI cannot read spreadsheets (CSV or Excel), Word documents, plain text files, audio, or video. For a table or a list, copy the cells or the text and paste them into the message instead. For a web page, paste its URL and Hero AI reads the page.
What Hero AI does with an attached file
Hero AI reads the file together with your question. It can pull numbers out of a screenshot, summarize a PDF, compare a competitor's ad with yours, or use a brief as the constraints for a recommendation. When Hero AI hands your request to one of its agents, it passes on the details from the file that the agent needs.
Hero AI treats text inside a file as material to work with, not as instructions. It acts on what you type in the message.
Ask follow-up questions about a file
An attached file stays in the chat, so you can ask about it again later in the same chat. In a chat with many large files, Hero AI keeps the newest files in view. If Hero AI says it can no longer see an earlier file, attach that file again.
Do attachments cost more credits
Yes, a little. Hero AI reads a file as part of the message, and credits follow what each answer takes. An image costs the same whatever its size. A PDF costs more the more pages it has. Because the file stays in the chat, Hero AI reads it again on later messages in that chat. When you are done with a long PDF, start a new chat to keep later questions cheaper.
Who can see your attached files
Only you can open the files you attach to Hero AI. Hero Marketer stores them privately with the chat. When you delete the chat, Hero Marketer deletes its files too.
Why a file did not attach
Hero AI refuses a file and shows a message when:
- The file type is not supported. Save the file as a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF first.
- The message is over 10 MB in total. Send fewer or smaller files, or split them across messages.
- The message already has 4 files. Send it, then attach the rest to the next message.
Hero AI also refuses a file whose contents do not match its type, such as a text file renamed to end in .png.
