Research keywords in chat

Hero AI has two ways to research keywords. Give a seed keyword and a target country, and the Keyword Research Agent returns 1 to 3 keyword clusters. Or paste a list of up to 1,000 keywords, and Hero AI returns Google's metrics for each keyword. The result shows in a Keyword research card in the chat. Keyword research in chat does not create a campaign or change your Google Ads account.

Research keywords from a seed keyword

Type a seed keyword and a country:

What keywords should I target for "email marketing software" in the United States?

The Keyword Research Agent then does these steps:

  1. It gets keyword ideas and search volume for the seed from Google Keyword Planner.
  2. It keeps the keywords that have at least 30 monthly searches.
  3. It keeps only high-intent keywords that fit the seed and your product. These are bottom-of-funnel terms, for example terms with "software", "pricing", or "demo".
  4. It puts the keywords into 1 to 3 keyword clusters of up to 10 keywords each.

The first cluster has the label Recommended ad group. The clusters are not grouped by funnel stage.

Each cluster shows these columns:

ColumnWhat it shows
ThemeThe topic that the keywords in the cluster share
KeywordsThe keywords in the cluster
Monthly searchesGoogle's average monthly searches in the target country
Est. clicksHero Marketer's estimate of clicks for each month
Est. budgetHero Marketer's estimate of the budget for each month

A Total row adds up the clusters.

How the click and budget estimates work

Est. clicks and Est. budget are Hero Marketer's own estimates. They are not a Google forecast. Hero Marketer calculates them from each keyword's monthly searches:

  • Est. clicks = monthly searches × 80% impression share × 10% CTR.
  • The cost for each click is 1.5 times the average of Google's low and high top of page bids. When Google has no bid data, Hero Marketer uses $2.
  • Est. budget = Est. clicks × the cost for each click.

Your real clicks and costs change with Quality Score, competition, and ad relevance. See How budget suggestions are calculated.

Check a list of keywords

Paste your keywords and name a country:

Get search volume in Germany for these keywords: crm software, crm for startups, sales pipeline tool

Hero AI returns Google's metrics for exactly the keywords that you give:

ColumnWhat it shows
KeywordYour keyword, in the order that you gave
Avg. monthly searchesGoogle's average monthly searches in the target country
CompetitionGoogle's competition level for the keyword
Top of page bidGoogle's top of page bid range for the keyword

Hero AI keeps your order and does not put the keywords into clusters. It removes only empty lines and duplicate keywords. A dash (—) means that Google has too little data for that exact keyword. You can check up to 1,000 keywords in one list. If your list is longer, Hero AI checks the first 1,000 keywords and tells you that it removed the rest.

What keyword research needs

  • A target country. Every keyword research run needs a country. If you do not give one, Hero AI asks. Hero AI does not use a default country.
  • A connected Google Ads account. Hero AI gets the keyword data from Google through your Google Ads account.
  • A product, for seed research only. Seed research uses your product to keep only the keywords that fit. If you have more than one product on the account, Hero AI asks which product to use. A keyword list does not need a product.

Hero AI runs keyword research one time in each message. To research a second seed keyword, send it in a new message.

What keyword research in chat does not do

  • It does not create a campaign or an ad group. To launch a campaign, open Create campaign in the sidebar. The campaign wizard runs its own keyword research and builds one ad group from the cluster that you select. See Choose keyword clusters.
  • It does not give a Google forecast or a cost per lead. The click and budget numbers are Hero Marketer's estimates.
  • It does not have a separate export. Each results table has its own copy and download buttons. You can download a table as a CSV file or a Markdown file.
