Overview

Hero Marketer streamlines campaign creation by providing smart, B2B SaaS-optimized defaults for campaign settings while giving you the flexibility to customize when needed. This "Sensible Defaults" approach eliminates the traditional complexity of Google Ads setup, letting you launch campaigns faster without sacrificing control.

While the default settings work well for most B2B SaaS campaigns, Advanced Settings gives you additional control when you need it. You can customize the campaign name, adjust bidding strategies, and fine-tune other parameters. And remember, you can always make further adjustments directly in Google Ads after launch.

Accessing Advanced Settings

  1. Navigate to the Create Campaign page

  2. Click the Advanced Settings button in the campaign creation form

  3. The Advanced Settings dialog will appear with configuration options

Available Settings

Campaign Name Customization

  1. Find the Campaign Name field in the Advanced Settings dialog

  2. Enter your preferred campaign name (optional)

  3. If left empty, the system will automatically generate a name using this pattern: Search | [Seed Keyword] | Non Branded | [Country Code]

For example, if your seed keyword is "project management" and country is "US", the generated name would be: Search | Project Management | Non Branded | US

Bidding Strategy Selection

  1. Find the Bidding Strategy dropdown in the Advanced Settings dialog

  2. Choose from available strategies:

    • Target Spend (Default): Automatically optimizes bids to maximize clicks within your budget

    • Additional strategies will be available in future updates

Saving Your Settings

  1. After configuring your settings, click Save Settings at the bottom of the dialog

  2. Your settings will be applied to the campaign

  3. You'll return to the campaign creation form with your new settings active

Error Handling

If you encounter any issues:

  1. Check for error messages displayed in red below the input fields

  2. Ensure your campaign name follows these validation rules:

    • Must be between 1 and 120 characters

    • Contains only letters, numbers, and basic punctuation

    • Must be unique within your Google Ads account

  3. If errors persist, click Cancel and try again

Important Notes

  • Our default settings are carefully chosen based on proven B2B SaaS best practices - you can start with these and optimize later

  • The auto-generated campaign name structure follows industry best practices for easy organization and reporting

  • Advanced settings are completely optional - use them when you need more control or have specific requirements

  • While these settings can't be modified in Hero Marketer after campaign creation, you can always adjust them in Google Ads

Best Practices

Campaign Naming

  • Use the auto-generated name format when possible as it ensures consistency and includes key targeting information

  • If using a custom name, maintain a similar structure:

    • Include the channel (e.g., "Search")

    • Include the main keyword or theme

    • Indicate campaign type (e.g., "Branded", "Non Branded")

    • Include geographic targeting

  • Example custom name: "Search | Project Management | Enterprise | US-West"

Bidding Strategy

  • Start with the default Target Spend strategy for new campaigns

  • Monitor performance for at least 2 weeks before considering strategy changes

  • Align your strategy with campaign goals:

    • Target Spend: Best for testing new markets or maximizing reach
